Wage & Hour Issues: Avoiding Violations
The Desert Communities EAC is a non profit organization dedicated to keeping California business informed on workforce laws and human resource issues. We are an event partner with the Employment Development Department.
One of the top areas of exposure for employers is wage & hour law. Given the recent changes in the law, increased litigation and agency enforcement, employers should periodically review their practices to ensure wage & hour compliance. California has the most employee-friendly legal system in the nation. Wage and hour laws pose particularly challenging problems for employers seeking to do business here. Compliance seems almost unattainable, as the California Legislature creates new obligations each year, and state courts regularly issue opinions dramatically upending the manner in which entire industries have operated for years, or even decades. Join us to discuss misclassification, regular rate calculations, off-the-clock work, inaccurate policies & practices that can all contribute to employee claims.
Attendees will learn:
- Attendees will identify which areas require their immediate attention
- Hear the latest in wage & hour law changes and litigation trends
- Tips to correct wage & hour compliance issues
Join Amber Healy, partner with Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo to discuss some of the most common wage and hour mistakes employers make. She will provide strategies and solutions to avoid liability.
