CA Civil Rights Department Updates
The Desert Communities EAC is a non profit organization dedicated to keeping California business informed on workforce laws and human resource issues. We are an event partner with the Employment Development Department.
The Civil Rights Department is the state agency charged with enforcing California’s civil rights laws. The mission of the CRD is to protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, businesses, and state-funded programs, and from bias-motivated violence and human trafficking.
The basic take aways of the presentation are as follows:
- An overview of the CRD
- Review of the laws enforced by the agency
- Basis flow of the investigative process
- Best practices in preparing responses to CRD
Presented By

Tina Walker is the Assistant Deputy Director of Enforcement for the Civil Rights Department (CRD) [formerly known as Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH)]. Ms. Walker started her career with CRD in 1999 as an investigator; previously she worked for seven years in workers’ compensation laws at the State Compensation Insurance Fund.
