Effective Hiring Practices

The Desert Communities EAC is a non profit organization dedicated to keeping California business informed on workforce laws and human resource issues.  We are an event partner with the Employment Development Department.

This presentation is designed to help the members understand how to identify the “problem employee” and avoid the nightmare of trying to terminate an employee you should never have hired. Topics covered range from identifying the kind of employee the members are looking for all the way through properly orienting the employees you select. Step by step, the presentation will show the members how to navigate the preemployment and hiring process successfully. With these proven methods, the members can effectively screen out the “problem employees” before they are hired.

 Key issues covered include:

• What topics a good employment application must cover

 • How to look for clues in the employment application

 • How to interview effectively

 • How to get reliable reference information and conduct other background checks

 • How to reject applicants

 • How to make offers of employment correctly.

Presented By

Practice Group. Bob has been practicing labor and employment law representing management since graduating with honors from the George Washington University National Law Center in 1987, where he was a member of the George Washington Law Review.
