Hot Tips on New Laws Governing Background Checks

and the Fair Chance Act

The Desert Communities EAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping California businesses informed on workforce laws and human resource issues.  We are an event partner with the Employment Development Department.

Our attendees will learn:

  • How do the new laws affect EVERY employer, even if you don’t screen employees for crimes?
  • What background check processes are still lawful, and why check at all? (Isn’t ignorance bliss?)
  • How can you safely advertise, search for information, and give an offer letter conditioned on a background check?
  • What can you do when you discover a crime in an employee’s background?
  • When can you revoke a job offer or terminate a convicted employee?
