PROTECT MY JOB, I MIGHT COME BACK!
A Practical Roadmap Through California’s Leave of Absence Laws

The Desert Communities EAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping California businesses informed on workforce laws and human resource issues. We are an event partner with the Employment Development Department.

California leave laws are complex, fast-moving, and risky if mishandled. This session breaks down exactly when leave applies, how laws overlap, and what steps employers must take immediately. Attendees will walk away with practical guidance they can use the same day to respond to leave requests, avoid retaliation claims, and protect jobs—without putting the business at risk.

Attendees will learn:

  • CFRA, FMLA & pregnancy leave — what overlaps and what doesn’t

  • Workers’ Comp, bereavement & school activity leave obligations

  • Leave rights tied to victims of crimes & rehabilitation programs

  • Common employer mistakes that trigger claims and penalties

  • Practical tools to manage leave while protecting your business
